For the Lonely Hearts

I wrote this poem for those I know who feel this way, and for those I don't know at all.

Unseasoned Love

What used to be tears of

Unwanted wearisome pain

Now are less spicy

And more like rain.

In days past they fell through a clean clear heart

That smog and pollution now take their part

To keep the spice away.

Yes, making them untasteful

drab and dull

Washing away the life within

This now empty soul.

Laughter holding

Its place over tears

Hiding yesterdays

Traumas and fears.

Keeping the true self

Locked in steel

So hurt and pain

We will not feel

Still recognizing and thanking

You and me

For the ones inside

That we used to be.

We hear laughter

At the taunting ashes of yesterdays pain

While these unseasoned tears

Of Love remain
